Dowry Death

She lay in the dark
Her moon face – cold
The vast sky spreads like a dome
In death she is again alone

She died burning
Sari draped the cooking fire they say
Her charred face now silent
Under embroidered stars

Thousands of miles away
Hundreds of cries later
A woman screams
Fire ! Fire !

hmm..sort of reminds me of a book i read. It was called Born to Live...its about a dowry death, and a reincarnation, and all that...when the girl tries to find her past life...
wonder what u meant by thousands of miles away a woman cries, though.

The woman died and noone repented. The woman died and noone avenged the murder. Ongoing saga......
But a woman somewhere else - thousands of miles away, hundreds of cries later, the cries were hers as well as others - revolts and says Fire Fire - the word "Fire" symbolises many things (1) The bride is burning (2) The woman herself is angry and burning in fury (3) Fire at(kill) the men/women that commited the murder

i like how u used the words...embroidered stars...usually that would denote a thing of beauty but in this case its a scene that has none about it...well written...few words that say a lot
